Our Political Role

Thanks to everyone who helped support our political efforts over the last few months in the attempt to elect labor friendly candidates.

There have been some major changes in government at every level as a result of our most recent election. You should feel confident that your council and your International are positioned to deal with these changes. You should also be aware now more than ever, of how important it is for our members to be politically informed and active, and that includes voting!

Every ounce of clout that we can use productively comes from our members in the trenches – the rank and file. So whether it is the craftsmanship you show in the field – completing jobs ahead of schedule that don’t need to be “fixed”, or whether it is being active on the political front – voting, participating in the political activities of the carpenter, helping your local government or running for office yourself…You are our strength.

It is our goal to make our Brotherhood stronger. It takes hard work on many fronts, and certainly our political activities will play a major role in our success.

We have to stick together and keep doing the right things and we will be fine.
