William R. Waterkotte Memorial Scholarship Awarded

Thirteen applications were received for the 2003 William R. Waterkotte, Sr. Scholarship. The $4,000 Scholarship is distributed in 4 installments of $1,000. As in the past, the Dean of Occupational Technologies at Community College of Allegheny County -- North Campus reviewed the applications.

The 2003 Scholarship winner is Brian Stubenbort, son of Daniel Stubenbort of Local Union 230. Brian was presented his first installment before the Delegates of the Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council of Carpenters quarterly meeting of April 5, 2003. Brian's father and mother Dan and Cindy proudly watched Brian accept the award.

Brian will be attending Penn State in the fall in the College of Engineering. The University of Pittsburgh and the University of Cincinnati also accepted Brian. Brian will graduate 10th in his Carrick High School senior class of 219. Brian has lettered in both soccer and baseball; he has been inducted into the Carrick High School Baseball Hall of Fame. Brian also plays both sports for community organizations. Brian has also received the following honors: National Honor Society, Citizenship Honor Roll High Honor Roll for all report periods, National Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance. Brian still finds time to work in the food industry. One of Brian's hobbies is collecting baseball cards.

The Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council of Carpenters wishes Brian continued success in his college career.
