There once lived a master carpenter
who led a good, long life
He had a lovely family –
Two daughters, a son, a wife.

He loved to work with his hands
and built a home for them all;
A house that withstood the test of time
through winter, spring, summer and fall.

Over the years, his family grew,
and grandchildren brought delight
The house was full of noise and laughter
Every Easter and Christmas night.

His life was long and full of love
as anyone could wish it to be
Those golden years went flowing by
like a river to the bluest sea.

The carpenter, now old and gray
felt his time was coming near;
he left his crafts to his family
so that they would hold him dear.

God soon called out to him,
"My child, come join your wife and son;
and bring your hammer, carpenter,
there's work yet to be done."

The master carpenter's soul
rose up to meet that white light
so weep not, my dear friends,
for everything will be all right.

And if you listen carefully
above the angels singing,
You can almost hear the sound of
the carpenter's hammer ringing.
