Sisters in the Brotherhood Updates and Meetings

At the June 2010 Women's Conference in Las Vegas, the leadership of the Sisters' in the Brotherhood set the following goals, challenging all of us to accomplish them within a three year time span:
1. Recruitment of new sisters
2. Sister retention
3. Mentoring Programs for existing sisters
Liz Skidmore, Committee Secretary for the UBC Women's Conference, outlined the "blueprint…on how to increase women membership and involvement in the UBC."She stated that the International would "…provide the tools…" to help us attain these objectives. Our regional efforts, then, need to concentrate on initiating discussions and establishing committees to begin tackling these goals.
As a result of this conference, Liz Skidmore (Assistant to the General President) and JoAnn Williams (Assistant to the General President) met with representatives of the Greater PA Regional Council and local sisters on July 27, 2011 to begin the process for meeting these challenges. A steering committee has been created to define: our purpose, our goals, and our objectives.
In addition, Bill Waterkotte emphasized the many avenues which brothers and sisters have available to collaborate: politically, in volunteer efforts, and in organizing efforts. The more recognition the brotherhood and sisterhood receive, the more the public will understand what we as a union do.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
