Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh
Our Annual Community Project
(formerly Christmas in April)

Thank you , thank you, thank you!

This year's annual Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh campaign took place on Saturday, April 26, 2008, throughout the city.

The Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council is proud and honored that so many journeyman and apprentices volunteer their time and expertise for such a worthy cause as Rebuilding Together- Pittsburgh. We thank you for your participation. Approximately 33 homes were repaired this year, with well over 200 carpenters and apprentices helping to make our 16th year of Rebuilding Together a success.
Once again you have helped to touch the hearts and souls of people in our community who are truly in need.

Thank you  to all of our volunteers  for taking time on a Saturday to improve  quality of life to our regions’ low income, elderly and disabled population. We are proud of the continued support from so many of our veteran volunteers, along with our new volunteers – you all make this project successful!

Thank you to all who participated in any capacity for your time, skills and efforts.

If you were unable to help this year, maybe we will see you next year. If you take the time to volunteer- guaranteed it will be an unforgettable day.

Please take a moment to read  a few thank you notes from some of the home owners and you will know what a difference a day has made in so many lives:

“We love our ramp!  I really appreciated every thing that was done.
Thank you very much”

“All the thanks to the volunteers and sponsors for working so
hard to make my home comfortable and safe for me.
It lifted my faith to see people give so much of their selves to help me.
And the young people-really lets me know
the world will continue to get better.
Seeing for real there are good people all around.
Thank you so much and God bless all of you”

“Thanks to every volunteer, they are angels. I an so grateful .
I love my front porch. Bless each and every one
that was in my home. Much appreciation.”

“When one has been blessed with an answered prayer
the best of words seem inadequate. There is just no way my mother
and I could  have afforded to accomplish this massive undertaking alone. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude and
thanks for what was accomplished on our behalf.”

“Something wonderful happened for me.
A great organization Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh worked at my home. Electricians, carpenters, locksmiths, plumber, the sponsors
and all the great volunteers. Everyone was truly appreciated and
did a great job for me. God bless all.”

Once again, thank you for all your support in our
“Rebuilding Together” efforts and look forward to seeing
you very soon for the planning of our 2009 Rebuilding Day.

Rebuilding Together - Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping low-income elderly and disabled homeowners living in warmth, safety, independence, dignity and decency through home repair and rehabilitation volunteer services.

Each year volunteers repair dozens of individual homes to assist homeowners needing a helping hand. More than 1000 Pittsburghers come together to help their neighbors during the annual Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh campaign.

The organization has  also helped  repair senior centers, churches and other structures to make the buildings more accessible and comfortable for their users.

Corporations and individuals donate everything from money and materials to their valuable time to make Rebuilding Together one of the biggest events of its kind in Pittsburgh and around the United States. We are able to quadruple every dollar donated through in-kind contributions of materials and skilled tradespeople.

These skilled laborers are joined by unskilled volunteer laborers who do everything from cleaning and trash removal to plumbing and electrical repairs. Materials and supplies are provided by area residents and businesses. Historically, teams of volunteers have successfully completed repairs in just one day to make homes more comfortable and secure.

Rebuilding Together began in 1973 in Midland, Texas when a group of volunteers decided to devote one day in April to repair the dilapidated homes of low-income, disabled and elderly neighbors in their community. The idea spread across the country and is now a national non-profit organization with more than 150 chapters.

Rebuilding Together-Pittsburgh began in 1992 and annually makes repairs to more than 30 homes.
