I realize there are a lot of demands on each and every one of us regarding our time: time spent at home, work, business and professional life and our “free time”. That’s why I am so amazed and pleased at the commitment the carpenters have to the Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh Event, as they volunteer their time and skills to repair these 30 plus homes, making them “warm, safe and dry”.
We have just completed our 15th consecutive year volunteering our time, talent, and skills to help with our Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh (Christmas in April Program).
I want to personally thank everyone who participated in any capacity for your time skills and efforts.
I realize that last minute changes in some of our schedules caused some who volunteered to not be available to attend. I still want to thank all who volunteered and hope to see you next year.
This year’s Stats:
32 homes repaired
300 carpenter volunteers
32 safe and happy home owners

Please take a few moments to read the a few of the many heart warming thank you letters from some of the home owners:
I enjoyed having so many improvements to my home.
I do not feel so embarrassed to have people in my home.
Barbara
The hard work and dedications that was shown by
each and every one has touched me completely.
James
RTP gives seniors a piece of mind that their homes will be
clean, safe and dry and they don’t have to worry about
the financial impact the repairs would have.

Rebuilding Together - Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping low-income elderly and disabled homeowners living in warmth, safety, independence, dignity and decency through home repair and rehabilitation volunteer services. Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh is an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, Inc., the nation’s largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing low-income houses and communities.
Each year volunteers repair dozens of individual homes to assist homeowners needing a helping hand. More than 1000 Pittsburghers come together to help their neighbors during the annual Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh campaign.
The organization also repairs senior centers, churches and other structures to make the buildings more accessible and comfortable for their users. Corporations and individuals donate everything from money and materials to their valuable time to make Rebuilding Together one of the biggest events of its kind in Pittsburgh and around the United States . We are able to quadruple every dollar donated through in-kind contributions of materials and skilled tradespeople.
These skilled laborers are joined by unskilled volunteer laborers who do everything from cleaning and trash removal to plumbing and electrical repairs. Materials and supplies are provided by area residents and businesses. Historically, teams of volunteers have successfully completed repairs in just one day to make homes more comfortable and secure. Rebuilding Together began in 1973 in Midland , Texas when a group of volunteers decided to devote one day in April to repair the dilapidated homes of low-income, disabled and elderly neighbors in their community. The idea spread across the country and is now a national non-profit organization with more than 150 chapters.
Rebuilding Together-Pittsburgh began in 1992 and annually makes repairs to more than 30 homes.
